THE SHOW The Next Reunion can be performed as a straight play that runs approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes without an intermission. It is a hilarious comedy that appeals to ALL ages, male and female. It is recommended for audience members over the age of 16 years. *************************************************** THE EVENT The evening can also take on a whole reunion theme surrounding the show. This allows for an interactive component that is strictly voluntary and adds a great deal of fun and humor to the show.
Audience members can given a discount on admission tickets or drinks, if they present their high school yearbook photograph.
As they enter the show, audience members are requested to fill out nametags, which also include high school affiliation.
Audience members are encouraged to fill out a sheet with a LIE about what they are currently doing with their lives. These people and their lies are then incorportated into the last scene of the show. Before the show starts, in true reunion fashion, tee shirts are awarded to the audience member who came the farthest and the one with the most children.
During the show, the names of two audience members are written into the script when the character of Betsy asks Emily who else is at the reunion. Emily replies that “So-and-so is here and his new toupee looks terrific.” The second audience member is revealed as being at the reunion, to which the character of Betsy replies, “I heard that he was in prison.” Emily then announces to the audience that he is “out on a weekend conjugal visit.” Both references to audience members garnered a great deal of laughter. NOTE: It is highly recommended that you do an informal background check to make sure that the first person is not really wearing a toupee and that the second person has never really been in jail...but then you knew that. A slideshow presentation entitled “Alumni Update…What are they doing now?” can be shown during the scene changes. Photographs of audience members can be simply imported to the bogus names and information provide on the slide. This results in huge belly laughs and a distraction from the set changes.
After the show, the audience are invited to a local restaurant/bar to celebrate their own reunion. A discount for audience members (wearing their nametags) can be worked out with the establishment in a true win-win situation. The nametags from the show help facilitate mingling.
Large yearbook photograph posters of the actors can be hung around the theater to set a tone.
The show allows for interaction on a volunteer basis. It is not forced on ANYBODY.
